My tongue
How I wish to control thee
How well the ear doth see
Lock you up and toss the key
That tiny muscle betwixt the teeth
The sorrow that thou doth cause
Put you on hold, put you on pause
Hold you so tight betwixt my jaws
The cause of my faux pas
How oft’ you like to run
Saying words just for fun
Just so you know, we are done
I won’t say a word when you return
I shall be quick to adjourn
Henceforth the cat shall own
I will chew you to the bone
Tie you down with a stone
Thou shall only mumble and groan
And knowing words from A to Z
Yet speak so selfishly
What do you say while I’m asleep?
Don’t you have somewhere to be?
Friends will listen and see my way
They will beckon and they will bay
“My how quiet thou art as of this day!
Can you speak? Can you talk? Pray!”
And I shall have nothing to say
Realize the hardest thing to do is to be kind and speak well of one another.
