Songs and Poems
All those songs and poems
There’s a reason I wrote ‘em
I felt the world ought to know
How strong a love can grow
I’ve spent countless hours
And brought you fields of flowers
Yet there are kings and queens
Coupled with their beautiful things
Who will never know what it means
Not gold, silver, or diamond rings
Nor how the yellow canary sings
There’s nothing that can compare
So much love that we share
All those songs and poems
There’s a reason I wrote ‘em
Each and every gentle verse
There was no need to rehearse
A love that makes rivers turn
The kind that makes water burn
Above all mountains it towers
It makes heroes out of cowards
It’s never a matter of question
We gave it full expression
All those songs and poems
There’s a reason I wrote ‘em
